Paying METAL Forward!!!

O.K., so...many of you know Jeff as the notorious, prolific and scary horror artist, right? Did you know he also does a bunch of "nice" stuff?? While he has always felt it was extremely important to "give back" by sharing his talent, his latest cause is particularly cool!

One of Jeff's most recently completed projects is the logo design and artwork for PAYING METAL FORWARD. The group was founded by a couple of metalheads who had both faced serious medical situations. Many times during their illnesses, these guys were able to think about something else, something badass and fun! This was due in large part to the thoughtfulness and compassion of metal bands, metalheads, and others in the genre across the world who took the time to send little care packages and stuff to help get these guys through.

Jeff had worked with one of the organizations founders (Pete Altieri, bass player/singer for Low Twelve, and of Heavycore Records) on several previous occasions. When Pete asked Jeff if he would be interested in donating his time and talent to create a logo for this awesome group of (cool) philanthropists, Jeff was totally down for it! I mean seriously, how often do many people in general think of serious metal fans as being philanthropic, kindhearted people who would give the shirt off their backs to help another in need!

I will be posting an interview with co-founder, Pete Altieri, here on the blog soon, so I won't go into all the details right at the moment. What I will do, however, is give you a little background from their Facebook page, and link ya up! We would appreciate the hell out of it if you would go check the organization out, and think about what you can do to support their mission. ALSO, if you know of a fellow metal head who could benefit from PAYING METAL FORWARD, contact these guys! Anybody fighting a serious illness or medical condition needs all the support, diversion and encouragement they can get! LET'S GIVE 'EM OURS!

THEY ALSO NEED METAL BANDS!!! Metal bands of ALL kinds who, if asked, would like to support the PMF organization by pledging to send music, shirts, stickers or whatever you can to a metal brother or sister in need if they ask. The guys at PMF want to give those facing serious medical situations a distraction while they are going through such difficult times! It's medically proven that it is beneficial to these patients and yes, METAL CAN WORK MIRACLES!

 Low Twelve - "Crawl Space"

**From PAYING METAL FORWARD Facebook Pages-what PMF is all about!!**

Metal heads helping metal heads. Our organization wants to get metal music to metal heads who are suffering or struggling with a serious medical problem.

Paying Metal Forward's mission is to reach out to metal heads who are in real need of a break or diversion from a serious battle they are in. If we can make a metal head forget their situation for a little while, then we have served our purpose!

Paying Metal Forward is an non-profit organization to help fellow metal heads deal with an extremely difficult situation in their lives. As more bands, record labels, and individuals commit to helping the cause, as metal heads apply for help, PMF will make arrangements to have bands, labels and individuals send them music, dvds or anything to help keep their mind off the situation. In some cases, PMF will try to arrange to have band members from their favorite bands call them, or mail them autographed pictures.

PMF makes no promises, but will do our best to get metal heads the help they need to make it through a tough time!

Paying Metal Forward was founded by metal heads Pete Altieri and Chris Kovacs. Both wanted to start the organization during the summer of 2013 as a way to help fellow metal heads who were struggling with a serious disease or a similar crisis.
Pete Altieri, bass player/singer for Low Twelve fought his own battle with testicular cancer during the summer of 2001. After collapsing after a show in May of 2001, Pete was taken to the hospital and within only a few minutes was told that he likely had cancer. Blood tests confirmed the diagnosis and after having the tumor removed, Pete had to undergo intensive chemo to tackle the many tumors that were spread throughout his body. With the help of family, friends, and the legions of Low Twelve fans, Pete was able to remain strong and determined to beat the 50/50 odds he was given for survival. Oddly enough, on 9/11/01 he was told that his cancer was in remission. This coming September 11th will mark twelve years cancer free!

Chris Kovacs found out on March 5, 2013 that he had a perforated colon due to a mass that literally was strangling his colon. After emergency surgery to remove the mass it was determined that he had stage 4 colon cancer and the cells had spread to his liver. It was at this time that he was contacted by Pete - a former Bethel High School (CT) classmate and fellow metal head. Pete was one of many friends who reached out to Chris in his hour of need.

Pete contacted metal bands throughout the US to send Chris CDs, DVDs, or whatever they could spare to help keep his mind off cancer. Chris was buried in packages from metal heads across the country. In addition, Pete arranged phone calls from two musicians that were in one of Chris' all time favorite bands - Fates Warning. These calls helped inspire Chris and gave him the resolve to fight the good fight.

Chris said, "I told Pete as soon as I am better I would like to pay it forward. Pete had the same idea and together we came up with the idea of helping people who suffer from any medical issue. I am still going through treatment and my prognosis is to be fully cured by November. I have to believe that the reason why I am doing so well is due to people who I have never met helping a fellow metal head. Not only am I a co-founder of Paying Metal Forward but the first client. \m/"
Any metal head - of any age, who is struggling with any major medical issue can contact us at or on twitter @MetalForward and we will be in touch. We will need to verify your claim, but only to weed out the people who really need our help. Please understand we are not looking to profit from this in the least. Only to help fellow metal heads who need it - just as others have helped Chris and Pete battle their cancer as well. Brothers helping brothers - or sisters!

Hittin' the airwaves!

Join Jeff with Uber City Radio host, John Marshall, for

We had the pleasure of meeting John at Dead Winter Horror Convention this past winter in Somerset, KY. The whole Uber City Radio team was awesome, but John really made an impression, especially with Jeff! After interviewing with John during the convention, Jeff said it was probably one of the best interviews he has done! John plays some kick ass tunes on Bod's Mayhem Hour, and has some pretty killer guests and interviews (just this past week John interviewed Phil Anselmo of Pantera/Down)!

Tune in this Tuesday evening, July 30th at 6 p.m. Eastern time. You'll get to rock the hell out to some killer music (and probably influenced by Jeff's particularly twisted ear), and ya might even learn a few things about him ya never knew (or maybe never wanted to know)! Bwahahaha!

He says outloud the things many people don't have the balls to! We've posted an excerpt about John from his website below for your reading pleasure, but don't be lame...go check his shit out for yourself! You won't be disappointed...not if you like laughing!

Diggin' Up Bones

The first 'installation' on our deck!-2013
Jeff has started yet another home "improvement" project! Well, that's what WE consider it....the stuck up neighbors next door, maybe not so much! Hey, they knew who they were moving next door to! Bwahahahaha!

A huge fan of horror flicks, Jeff is paying homage to one of his favorites, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". We're creating a "Leather Face" Deck and we'd LOVE your help and contribution! If you have any bones lyin' around that you would like to contribute, please hit us up! We'll even put your name on the bones you a delightfully weird sponsorship kinda thing! You could consider yourself like a ritzy development benefactor, but instead of your name on a brick of some boring ass hospital walkway, your name will be on some cool bones that are part of a badass display on our deck! All we ask is that no human or animal is intentionally harmed just to provide bones for our deck! Duh!
From Texas Chain Saw Massacre-1974

We'll be posting pictures along the way and we look forward to sharing our progress with you guys! Now all we need is some deck furniture made of bones (or that at least looks like it is and isn't cheesy)!!!

See ya again soon!

June 1, 2013

You know the old saying..."lightning never strikes twice in the same place" Well, that's nothing more than an old myth! There's no better proof of that than the hellacious storm  brewing in the Gaither family for several generations! Not only did "lightning" strike twice, but several times, all in the same place (or, family if you will). An unmistakeable talent and passion for art is definitely imprinted in this family's genetic code.

By Jeff's Aunt Linda ~ 1972
Proudly hanging in a prominent spot on Gaither's living room wall is a bright and colorful daisy painted by his aunt Linda in 1972. At first glance, this cheerful, singular flower may seem a bit out of place. Why does it hang in what many compare to a museum full of horror, rock 'n roll, and monster art and memorabilia. To Jeff, this small painting is an homage to the talent and strength of one of the most influential people in his life and career. This talented and courageous woman was brutally taken from us long before the world would recognize her talent and passion for art...and life! You might be asking yourself, "what in the hell does this have to do with anything? Well, here's what. It might be safe to say it was his Aunt Linda who was one of the greatest contributors to his incredible and unique style of Rock 'n Roll Monster Art. While Jeff's art has taken to showing many new directions with his recent work, there is no mistaking that it is this style for which he is so well known. Gaither was just a young boy when Aunt Linda took him to his first horror movies (Night of the Living Dead and The Exorcist), She also bought Jeff his first Monsters of Filmland magazine and from there, we can say, the rest is artistic the making! Along with Jeff's mother, Ladonna, the kids in the family were always encouraged to indulge in art. The two ladies were always painting, drawing, crafting or involved in theater or some other sort of artistic adventure! Jeff credits these two women with always inspiring and encouraging him to work hard at and believe in his art. Partly as a result of the effort and effect these these two women had on him, Jeff has remained dedicated to perfecting his talent and taking it to the incredible level that he has.I guess you could say they created a monster!

Book of the Dead - by Braxton W. Gaither
Now Jeff's son, Braxton, is following in his old man's footsteps. Braxton has had several professional clients and jobs in the past, and has been honing his own particularly impressive and unique brand of original art for several years. He recently left a job in the food service industry to focus solely on his talent and dedicate his time and energies to the development of his art career. Braxton's work will soon be published in an upcoming edition of Pure Uncut Candy,Louisville's all inclusive art browser and The Dirty Derby Magazine, Louisville's hottest new publication! It's exciting to see him growing both personally and professionally. Check out Braxton and his work on  Facebook or drop him a line. Way to go, Brax!

By Ava Cooper ~ 2013
As if this weren't enough, Jeff's niece, Ava Cooper, has now "officially" arrived on the art scene as well! Naturally, she has has always shared a familial love and passion for art, and damn this girl is GOOD! Ava has studied Art and Drama all through high school and recently graduated from Bullitt Central High School this week. Her recent work also just won her a Congressional Art Award! Her painting will be on display in Kentucky Congressman Bret Guthrie's office for the next year! Ava has also been accepted into and will be attending the Art Program at Northern Kentucky University beginning in the fall! Go AVA!!

So, what, or should we say who, is next? Keep your eyes on the Gaither clan to find out! As I am about to join this amazing, loving, talented, fun and delightfully psycho family, I am excited to soon be offering some of my own personal artistic creations. Jeff and I will also debut some cool joint projects soon and we're pretty damn sure fans are gonna love 'em! I not only look forward to spending my life with Jeff, but with his family and fans too! We'll be sure to keep you guys posted on our celebration plans, art events, and from time to time even some of Jeff's amusing ramblings!

Jeff at Prophecy Ink "Sheear Heart Attack" Exhibit
So, as storm clouds form overhead, and the sizzle and pop of lightening surrounds, take may just be the next member of the Gaither family honing their apparently inborn artistic abilities!

Before I say goodbye, if you guys have something cool you'd like us to cover or mention here, let us know! Jeff absolutely loves to hear from his fans! Jeff and I, as well as some everyday and celebrity "Guest" bloggers will now be posting here regularly. You won't want to miss out! We just might be droppin' some cool opportunities soon, and this will be the only place where to find out about 'em, so keep checkin' us out!

See ya again soon!

ENTARTETE KUNTS is a spectacular new collection of underground artwork written and curated by Dennis Dread. A total orgy of imagery featuring nearly 400 full color reproductions from 42 international artists. Artists include Nick Blinko, Michel “Away” Langevin, Ed Repka, S. Clay Wilson, Rob Miller, Erik Danielsson, K. “Necrolord” W√•hlin, Sean Taggart, Joe Petagno, Jos. A. Smith, Bobby BeauSoleil, Dennis Dread, Jeff Gaither and many more. Foreword by acclaimed underground comix historian Patrick Rosenkranz.

ENTARTETE KUNTS is a playful bastardization of the German term for “degenerate art.” It is the title lovingly bestowed upon a series of annual group exhibitions organized in Portland, Oregon near the Northwest coast of America between 2007 and 2009. These public displays explored the obscure fringes of contemporary underground art and the incendiary intersections of so-called extreme music and graphic design, from the comically grotesque to the solemnly demonic. This book celebrates those exhibitions with a diverse collection of work by all 42 original participants from around the world. The result is a provocative retrospective and a cursory introduction to 50 years of metal and punk inspired art.

Featuring new and Classic Art of Jeff Gaither
Travis King’s Prophecy Ink Tattoo Studio and Fine Art Gallery will celebrate their first anniversary by inviting the public to an opening night reception for the unveiling of renowned Louisville artist Jeff Gaither’s exhibit, “Sheer Heart Attack”. The reception will include cocktails, music and many special guests from the area. This solo exhibit will feature new works by Gaither, as well as many of his classic pieces of the prolific "Rock 'n Roll Monster Art" style that he is so well known for.
The reception will be held Friday, April 5th, beginning at 6:00 pm. An artist signing and meet and greet will kick off the evening's festivities. All ages are welcome to attend from 6-8 p.m. at which time the event will become open to adults only. Music will be brought to you by Tightrope Endeavor, a pleasantly talented duo from Lawrenceburg, KY.
“The revolution has just begun…” Prophecy Ink Tattoo Studio and Fine Art Gallery renders a unique perspective and experience by cleverly merging fine art works and tattooing services of licensed, professional, and passionate tattoo artist, thus raising the bar to the ancient craft tattooing.
The Artist...
Throughout the past 30 years, Jeff Gaither has held the title of being one of Louisville Kentucky’s most notorious, prolific and renowned artists, having created art for over 300 CD covers and over 2000 magazine covers, while continuing to live in Louisville, Kentucky and be involved with the community. His list of accomplishments and associates continues to grow yearly, as does his involvement with festivals, record companies, celebrities and publishers around the globe.
In the past, most of his preferred subject matter offered dark art enthusiasts an unusual blend of horror and gothic energy mixed with the essence of heavy metal and rock and roll. His newest work reveals a new and perhaps unexpected side of the art of Jeff Gaither. In these works he has incorporated the vivid color he is so well known for, along with a fresh new energy, a hint of pop culture, and some uniquely fresh techniques. This daring combination has added a totally fresh perspective to his work that you will not want to miss. Like his sculpture and photography, this is just one more side of Gaither you have yet to experience. The exhibition will also include pieces fashioned in his classic style including: paintings, sculpture, pencil and ink, and works featuring the pointillism technique he is known for perfecting in a way that only Jeff Gaither can. When asked what makes this exhibit unique, Gaither has this to say: "Fans might be shocked to see this "other side" of my art, a combination of pop and abstract art blended to create something totally new, something totally different than what fans are used to from me."
The Owner/Tattoo Artist...
Travis King has put Louisville on the map in the tattoo scene. Noted for his realistic “realism” style, he is one of Louisville’s foremost decorated and respected award-winning tattoo artists. Mr. King’s 16 year career has garnered him over 100 trophies and awards both local and internationally that he continues to acquire from his amazing work.
Prophecy Ink Tattoo Studio and Fine Art Gallery is the first of its kind in the city of Louisville. The studio radiates with a unique perspective and experience to the art of tattooing and remarkable fine art. The studio and gallery has cleverly merged the talented mediums of skilled tattoos artist and fine art that is “dared to be shared”, intertwined in a two story Victorian building located in the historic Highlands of Louisville, the upcoming Art Avenue.
Jeff Gaither’s art exhibit “Sheer Heart Attack” will be on display from April through June 2013.
Prophecy Ink Tattoo Studio and Fine Art Gallery is located at 907 Baxter Avenue.
Business hours are 12 Noon until 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and Noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday’s.
